Sculpting Brows is a manual, semi-permanent method. Also referred to as embroidery, hair stroke, 3D brows, microstroking or brow resurrection it yields natural, crisp strokes that resemble hair. It is done by hand, using a very fine blade to deposit a small amount of ink into the skin. Manually done, Sculpting Brows looks like hair. It is considered semi-permanent and lasts 6 months-3 years. Less invasive than the permanent method, it rivals the look of real eyebrows. All the pigment is impacted into the epidermal layer of the skin - the one that naturally renews itself on a regular basis. Because we're introducing pigment so close to the surface of the skin, we're able to emulate the look of real hair. Unfortunately, for the same reason, these are considered to be semi-permanent. Don't let the terminology deter you - that doesn't mean they'll only last a little while. They will last for as long as they're being maintained.
Regular touch ups are recommended to keep the strokes crisp and fresh. Healthy skin, without any underlying pathological factors usually requires a top up every six to eight months. This, of course varies greatly from individual to individual. Shaping is the first and in my opinion, most important step. I strive to include my clients into the decision making process to help alleviate some of the anxiety.
As for pain, a topical anesthetic is administered for all treatments, but there is some discomfort associated with the procedure. It has been likened to threading and tends to be more irritating than painful. Sculpting Eyebrow is a two-step process, consisting of initial procedure and a touch up to be completed 4-8 weeks after. This method is a lot kinder to the skin than the old method done with a machine. Redness and swelling dissipate within an hour after the treatment and no permanent scarring takes place.
During the healing process, your brows will go through a very interesting ride - at first, they appear dark and well defined. After about a week to ten days, the color will fade slightly and the definition will soften. There's no down time, so there's no need to take a day off work.
